On September 21, 2026, a ClinicalTrials.gov search for recruiting studies with a Florida location returned 3,876.[1] The state has four NCI-designated cancer centers with Florida facilities, health systems on Epic, MEDITECH and other EHRs, and a population older and more Hispanic than the US as a whole.[8],[17],[20],[4]

Florida's Casey DeSantis Cancer Research Program pays cancer centers by a formula that weights patients in institutional or investigator-initiated interventional trials at 1.2, against 1.0 for other cases.[13] Industry-sponsored trials are not named in that weighting. See oncology recruitment.
Which EHRs do Florida health systems run?
Many large Florida systems run Epic, but not all.[17],[20] Confirm the EHR early, because it sets the integration path.
- AdventHealth said in February 2020 it would replace Cerner with Epic across more than 1,200 care sites and extend the record to affiliated practices through Epic's Community Connect.[16]
- Orlando Health was moving to Epic from Allscripts in April 2020, when Florida Trend counted at least nine other Florida systems on Epic, including Tampa General and UF Health.[17]
- UF Health shared one Epic record across its Gainesville and Jacksonville campuses in 2021.[18]
- UHealth in Miami ran Epic, branded internally as UChart, in 2023.[19]
- HCA Healthcare's North Florida Division, 16 hospitals, is fully live on MEDITECH Expanse, per a September 2026 MEDITECH release. The release does not say the same of HCA's other Florida divisions.[20]
- Moffitt Cancer Center issues patient portal logins through Cerner Health (September 2026), which suggests but does not confirm an Oracle Health (Cerner) EHR.[21]
Which site networks and independent sites work in Florida?
- Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute, a community oncology practice, reports more than 250 physicians, nearly 100 locations and a research partnership with Sarah Cannon (September 2026).[22]
- Flourish Research lists 13 Florida locations on its website, more than in any other state (September 2026).[23]
- Alcanza Clinical Research, an Orlando-based investigator site network, bought Innovation Medical Research Center in Palmetto Bay in April 2024, its ninth acquisition since 2021.[24]
- Community health centers: 47 HRSA-funded health center organizations served 1,673,307 Florida patients in 2025.[7] See FQHCs and community sites.

About 5.35 million Floridians were 65 or older in 2025, second only to California.[4] That widens the pool for neurology, cardiology and oncology trials, and adds comorbidities and medications to check against exclusion criteria.
