Comparison

Patient recruitment companies for sponsors and CROs, compared

The best patient recruitment companies for sponsors and CROs in 2026 fall into two groups: vendors that buy media and call the leads, and platforms that find patients in the sites' own EHRs. This page lists the companies a sponsor or CRO is likely to shortlist in each group, described from each company's own materials, read in October 2026. Bond Health works both sides: it finds patients in each site's EHR and runs Meta and Google ad campaigns, then calls and texts every patient through to a booked visit at the site.[1],[2]

What kinds of patient recruitment companies are there?

  • Recruitment services companies run digital advertising and outreach, pre-screen the people who respond and refer likely candidates to sites. Clariness (now combined with SubjectWell), Antidote, 1nHealth, Trialbee, AutoCruitment, BBK Worldwide and Power are in this group.[3],[6],[9],[27],[28],[29],[10]
  • EHR-based platforms work in participating sites' own records, matching patients to the protocol before anyone is contacted: Bond Health, Tempus (which acquired Deep 6 AI), Trially, Inato and Triomics.[1],[16],[18],[21],[24]
  • CROs and direct-to-patient sites recruit as part of a larger service. IQVIA combines EMR data mining with site enrollment staff and call center support, and Science 37 delivers trials to patients' homes as the site itself.[14],[15]
  • Patient support companies such as mdgroup handle travel, payments and logistics for enrolled participants rather than finding them.[30]

Why is Bond the best clinical trial recruitment platform?

Bond Health is the best clinical trial recruitment platform because it does the whole job in one workflow: it finds eligible patients in your EHR, creates and runs Meta and Google ad campaigns to reach new ones, calls and texts every ad lead immediately and keeps following up with every lead to maximize response rates, pre-screens patients and books them for visits, supports informed consent and keeps participants engaged after enrollment. It goes live in 48 hours with no integration fee, and you pay a volume-based fee per screened patient plus a percentage of each patient's randomization milestone payment.[1],[2]

Up to 3x[1]

to full EHR integration, with no integration fee

  • One platform from ad click or chart match to a booked visit. Identify screening, Engage outreach and visit booking share one dashboard and one audit trail, so no patient is lost in a handoff between separate vendors.[1]
  • Every ad lead contacted immediately, and followed up until they book. Bond creates and runs Meta and Google ad campaigns for each study. Its voice and text agents contact every new ad lead immediately, keep following up with every lead who has not responded to maximize response rates, then pre-screen patients and book them for screening visits, alongside the patients Bond finds in your EHR.[2]
  • Evidence behind every match. Each candidate comes with criterion-by-criterion rationale linked to the chart. Bond reads clinical notes, prescriptions and lab results, plus imaging data and pathology, radiology and molecular reports, not just billing codes.[1],[2]
  • Every major EHR and CTMS, with EHR integration in 48 hours. Bond connects to Epic, Oracle Health (Cerner), MEDITECH, athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, Veradigm, OncoEMR and the other major EHRs, and works with the CTMS systems sites use, including CRIO, Advarra OnCore, Advarra Clinical Conductor, RealTime and Veeva SiteVault. Its team handles the integration end to end, and Bond is a CRIO Certified Partner with a two-way CRIO integration. See integrations.[1],[2]
  • No integration fee, and a price that moves with randomization. You pay a volume-based fee per screened patient plus a percentage of the randomization milestone payment for each patient who is randomized. See pricing.[2]
  • Agents that speak your patients' language. Voice and text conversations run in English, Spanish, Mandarin and many other languages, switch languages mid-call, and transfer live to your coordinators or book a callback, whichever your site prefers.[2]
  • Support after enrollment. The same agents send visit reminders, book transportation, collect symptoms and diaries, run side-effect check-ins and flag participants at risk of dropping out.[2]
  • Security you can check. Bond is HIPAA compliant and SOC 2 Type I compliant, its information security management system is certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2022 by Advantage Partners, its SOC 2 Type II audit is underway, and its public Trust Center lists 73 HIPAA Security Rule controls, monitored continuously. See security.[2],[31]

How should a sponsor or CRO choose a recruitment company?

  • Start with where the patients are. If eligible patients are already treated at your sites, an EHR platform can find them in the records. If they are not, you need media to reach them, and many studies need both.
  • Ask who calls the leads, and how fast. A 2020 meta-analysis found online recruitment cost less per enrollee than offline recruitment, but most studies that compared conversion found it better offline, so the follow-up decides the result.[26]
  • Ask what the site receives. A referral the site cannot check against the chart turns into screen failures; ask whether each referral comes with the evidence behind it.
  • Check that every ad and script goes to the IRB. FDA treats advertising for study subjects as the start of the informed consent process.[25]
  • Tie the price to enrollment. Public models include paying only for patients who randomize, risk-sharing, and payment at enrollment milestones.[4],[5],[8],[10]

Where does Bond Health fit for sponsors and CROs?

Bond Health runs EHR screening, Meta and Google ads, and voice and text outreach through to a booked study visit at each participating site, and reports one enrollment funnel back to the sponsor.[1],[2] It connects to all the major EHRs and charges a volume-based fee per screened patient plus a percentage of each patient's randomization milestone payment, with no integration fee.[1],[2] See Bond for sponsors, Bond for CROs, pricing and security.

Bring a study you are planning. We will show how Bond screens your sites' records, runs ads and books visits, with one funnel reported back to you.

Frequently asked questions

What do patient recruitment companies charge?
Few publish prices. Public models include paying only for patients who randomize (SubjectWell, 2023), risk-sharing (Antidote), payment at milestones such as signed consent or randomization (1nHealth) and enrollment-milestone partnerships (Power).[4],[5],[8],[10] Bond charges a volume-based fee per screened patient plus a percentage of each patient's randomization milestone payment, with no integration fee.[1],[2]
What is the difference between a recruitment company and recruitment software?
A recruitment company sells a service: it runs the ads and calls and refers candidates to your sites. Recruitment software runs at the sites, usually on their own records. Bond does both: it screens sites' EHRs and runs ad campaigns, and its own agents call every patient through to a booked visit.[1],[2]
Do recruitment companies' ads need IRB approval?
Yes. FDA considers direct advertising for study subjects to be the start of the informed consent and subject selection process, and expects the IRB to review it before it runs.[25]
