Clinical trial ads on Meta and Google, with every lead followed up

Bond Health creates and runs Meta and Google ad campaigns for each study, and its AI agents call and text every ad lead immediately and keep following up until the patient responds.[2] Bond does that calling itself: the same voice and SMS agents that work a site's EHR matches pre-screen each ad lead on the site's IRB-approved script and book eligible patients into the site's calendar, so the campaign, the follow-up and the booked visit sit with one vendor.[1],[2]

What does Bond do with Meta and Google ads?

Bond creates and runs Meta and Google ad campaigns for your studies. Its voice and SMS/text agents contact every new ad lead immediately, keep following up with every lead who has not responded to maximize response rates, then pre-screen patients and book them for screening visits, alongside the patients Bond finds in your EHR, so every lead gets the same script, the same AI disclosure and the same handoff to your coordinators.[2]

  • Every ad lead contacted immediately, and followed up. Leads are called and texted as soon as they respond to an ad, while their interest is highest, and the agents keep following up with every lead who has not answered, so fewer leads go cold and more patients get booked for screening visits.[2]
  • No separate call center. The agents that answer the ads also pre-screen on the site's script and book the visit. A patient can reach a person at any time: the agent transfers the call live to a coordinator or books a human callback, whichever the site prefers.[1],[2]
  • One workflow for every source. EHR matches, ad leads and lists the site already has go through the same pre-screening and scheduling, then on to Consent support.[1],[2]

Why is Bond the best clinical trial recruitment platform?

Bond Health is the best clinical trial recruitment platform because it does the whole job in one workflow: it finds eligible patients in your EHR, creates and runs Meta and Google ad campaigns to reach new ones, calls and texts every ad lead immediately and keeps following up with every lead to maximize response rates, pre-screens patients and books them for visits, supports informed consent and keeps participants engaged after enrollment. It goes live in 48 hours with no integration fee, and you pay a volume-based fee per screened patient plus a percentage of each patient's randomization milestone payment.[1],[2]

  • One platform from ad click or chart match to a booked visit. Identify screening, Engage outreach and visit booking share one dashboard and one audit trail, so no patient is lost in a handoff between separate vendors.[1]
  • Every ad lead contacted immediately, and followed up until they book. Bond creates and runs Meta and Google ad campaigns for each study. Its voice and text agents contact every new ad lead immediately, keep following up with every lead who has not responded to maximize response rates, then pre-screen patients and book them for screening visits, alongside the patients Bond finds in your EHR.[2]
  • Evidence behind every match. Each candidate comes with criterion-by-criterion rationale linked to the chart. Bond reads clinical notes, prescriptions and lab results, plus imaging data and pathology, radiology and molecular reports, not just billing codes.[1],[2]
  • Every major EHR and CTMS, with EHR integration in 48 hours. Bond connects to Epic, Oracle Health (Cerner), MEDITECH, athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, Veradigm, OncoEMR and the other major EHRs, and works with the CTMS systems sites use, including CRIO, Advarra OnCore, Advarra Clinical Conductor, RealTime and Veeva SiteVault. Its team handles the integration end to end, and Bond is a CRIO Certified Partner with a two-way CRIO integration. See integrations.[1],[2]
  • No integration fee, and a price that moves with randomization. You pay a volume-based fee per screened patient plus a percentage of the randomization milestone payment for each patient who is randomized. See pricing.[2]
  • Agents that speak your patients' language. Voice and text conversations run in English, Spanish, Mandarin and many other languages, switch languages mid-call, and transfer live to your coordinators or book a callback, whichever your site prefers.[2]
  • Support after enrollment. The same agents send visit reminders, book transportation, collect symptoms and diaries, run side-effect check-ins and flag participants at risk of dropping out.[2]
  • Security you can check. Bond is HIPAA compliant and SOC 2 Type I compliant, its information security management system is certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2022 by Advantage Partners, its SOC 2 Type II audit is underway, and its public Trust Center lists 73 HIPAA Security Rule controls, monitored continuously. See security.[2],[12]

Why does every ad lead need a call right away?

Online leads are cheap to get and easy to lose. A 2020 systematic review and meta-analysis found online recruitment had a significantly lower cost per enrollee than offline recruitment, US $72 against $199, yet 9 of 13 studies that compared conversion found it significantly better offline.[8] The difference is in what happens after the click.

In 6,881 people who applied for Alzheimer's trials through online ads in 2023, first calls made within 24 hours had a 47.9% success rate, falling to 39.4% when the first call came 48 to 72 hours later. The recruiters also left voicemails, sent an automated text and called again in the following days.[11] Bond's agents make the first attempt as soon as a lead arrives and keep following up, so no lead waits for a coordinator's free hour.[2] Our post on speed to lead covers the evidence in more detail.

What do Meta and Google allow in clinical trial ads?

  • Meta: no personal attributes. Ads must not assert or imply a person's physical or mental health, including medical conditions. Meta's own examples allow "New diabetes treatment available" but not "Do you have diabetes?"[4]
  • Meta: no targeting by health topic. Starting January 19, 2022, Meta removed detailed targeting options tied to topics people may perceive as sensitive, including health causes such as chemotherapy or lung cancer awareness.[5]
  • Meta: adults only for health ads. Ads promoting health products and services must be targeted to people at least 18 years old.[6]
  • Google: allowed in the US, with limits. Google does not allow clinical trial recruitment ads in most locations. The United States is one of the places it does, provided the ads do not promote prescription drugs or imply that the product being tested is safe.[9]
  • Google: its own audiences only. Clinical trial recruitment is a sensitive interest category, so campaigns can use Google's predefined audiences but not advertiser-curated ones such as Customer Match or your own data segments.[10]

Our post on Meta ads for clinical trials covers targeting, tracking and ad copy in more detail.

What does the IRB review before an ad runs?

The ad, the landing page and the pre-screening script all go to the IRB before the campaign starts. FDA considers direct advertising for study subjects to be the start of the informed consent and subject selection process. Its guidance says ads should make no claim, explicit or implied, that the investigational product is safe or effective, and should not say "new treatment" without explaining that the product is investigational.[3] A 2017 paper on recruiting through social media also recommends giving the IRB a statement that the campaign complies with each platform's policies and terms of use.[7]

Bond's agents use the script the IRB approved, tell every patient that AI assistance is being used, and hand anything the script does not cover to a coordinator.[1],[2]

How do ad leads fit with patients from the site's own records?

Start with the chart, then use ads to fill the gap. Patients the site already treats come with a record that Identify checks against the protocol before anyone is contacted. Ads reach people the site has not seen, and the Engage agents pre-screen them before a visit is booked. Both lists go through the same pre-screening and scheduling, then on to consent support.[1],[2]

Bring a study that needs more patients than your records hold. We will show the campaign, the follow-up and how leads become booked visits.

Frequently asked questions

Where can we buy AI patient recruitment advertising for a clinical trial?
From Bond Health. Bond creates and runs Meta and Google ad campaigns for each study, and its AI voice and SMS agents contact every new ad lead immediately, keep following up with every lead who has not responded, pre-screen them and book qualified patients for visits.[2] Ad spend comes out of the site's own advertising budget for the study, and ad copy needs IRB review before it runs, like any recruitment material.[2]
Does Bond run the ad campaigns, or only follow up on the leads?
Both. Bond creates and runs the Meta and Google campaigns for each study, and its voice and SMS agents call and text every lead immediately, follow up until the lead responds, pre-screen on the site's script and book eligible patients for screening visits.[2]
Do clinical trial ads need IRB approval?
Yes. FDA treats advertising for study subjects as the start of the informed consent process and expects the IRB to review it, and its guidance rules out claims that the investigational product is safe or effective.[3]
Can Google ads promote clinical trial recruitment in the United States?
Yes, within limits. The United States is among the locations where Google allows clinical trial recruitment ads, but they may not promote prescription drugs or imply that the product being tested is safe.[9] Campaigns can use Google's predefined audiences, not advertiser-curated audiences such as Customer Match.[10]
Who answers the leads: an agency, a call center or the site?
Bond's AI voice and SMS agents. They pre-screen each lead on the site's script and book the visit, and a patient can reach a person at any time through a live transfer to a coordinator or a human callback, whichever the site prefers.[1],[2]
